A Weekly Wonder: July’s Volunteer of the Month is Robyn Charles!

Since Robyn Charles joined our volunteer corps last December, she’s been consistently amazing us by jumping into a wide variety of tasks with remarkable alacrity. This reporter had to Google what that meant for sure before putting it into this article, so can report for sure that it means “brisk and cheerful readiness”. And that’s Robyn all over!

Robyn is an accomplished and wonderful lady who has taken on two weekly shifts in our Liberty Street Robot Supply and Repair, two weekly rotations in our Liberty Street Tutoring Lab, and the task of reconciling our receipts in the robot store weekly. This all means that we’ve been seeing a lot of Robyn this winter and spring, and we couldn’t be happier. As a store volunteer, she is friendly, reliable, knowledgeable, and precise. As a tutor, she is kind, wise, and has a remarkable rapport with students — particularly with some of our older students (late middle and early high school) and particularly in math and math-related subjects (something we always appreciate!).

But Robyn’s many talents don’t end there!  A skilled graphic designer, she has donated her time for projects of that nature, including our contribution to 826 National’s serial fiction project. She has also volunteered to take on the (ENORMOUS) task of type-setting our next OMNIBUS. This lady is fearless! (And we love it!)

Oh Robyn. What a pleasure it has been for us to get know you this year, and we look forward to working with you for many months to come. Thank you so much for all your contributions to 826michigan! With you around, we are a better place.
