Friday, September 17, 2010 – How Much Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count A Way.

Has everyone here heard me complain about how much I hate to run? Has anyone ever heard me say, "The only reason to run is if you're being chased, and then it's better to have a car," and fully, completely mean it?

Well, friends, keep that in mind as I tell you about the Big House Big Heart 5K. As a non-runner, even I can admit: It's pretty cool. You run all over Ann Arbor, and then you end up in the Big House, on the Jumbotron. Neat! Even better, you can run for a charity, and one of those charities is, you guessed it, 826michigan.

Okay, are you ready for me to drop a bomb on you? I AM RUNNING FOR 826 THIS YEAR. That's right, me, Amy Sumerton, hater of running, lover of more "relaxing" exercise (yoga, for example, or pilates, which my friend calls "rolling around on the floor and then taking a nap and calling it exercise"), is going to run a 5K.

If it wasn't for 826, I would never do such a thing. But I love this place, and I love what we do, and I believe in it, so I'm going to put myself out there in the hopes that I can raise some money for our organization.

Would you like to run? If so, email our team captain, Krysta Stone, at kmstone@gmail.com and tell her. The Big House Big Heart 5K happens on Sunday, October 3.

Would you like to donate? May I recommend clicking on MY button, or my sister's button, or robotier Dr. Walker's button, or longtime volunteer Mary Roderique's button? The money all goes to the same place, and this is not a competition so much as a team effort. Just click a button and donate!
