Picnic! Picnic! Picnic! (And Some Stuff About 826 on the Radio, And Then More on the Upcoming Workshop Schedule)

August 30, 2006 | 826 Blog Post

Many thanks to all of you for coming to the picnic this last weekend! The weather held (thanks to my mom, who promised it would!), the frisbees flew (thanks Horvaths and Krivans!), the music sounded great (thanks Chris and Ryan!), the sandwiches tasted delicious (thanks me!), buttons were made (thanks Adam and Eva!), and I even got to try out my new rollerskates (thanks Hanna!).

An extra-special thank you to Brandon Zwagerman, who took the picnic as an opportunity to write us a sizeable check for Madisonfest, a three-day music celebration that benefitted 826! Thanks Brandon! Brooklyn may get you for now, but you’ll always be a Michigander.

Also, listen to WDET this Sunday from 12-1pm. Local folk rock band Canada play live in-studio to plug 826 and the upcoming fundraiser! Don’t forget: next Thursday at the Blind Pig, 826 Benefit Show: The Sequel! Doors at 9. Canada, Chris Bathgate, Rescue, and Frontier Rucus will play!

Finally, a few words about the fall workshop schedule: it’s the best one yet. Do I always say that? Yes. Do I always mean it? Yes! High school workshops will hopefully be posted by the end of the week. The full schedule will be posted mid-September.
