Fairy Tale Poems
Taught by Onna Solomon & Anna Vitale
Ages 8-11, 15 students
Thursdays, October 2, 9, 16 (three sessions): 6-7:30pm; reception on Friday, November 21 at EMU at 6pm.
Do you like poetry? Do you like fairy tales? Have you ever thought of combining the two?
In this workshop, we'll read some of our favorite fairy tales and then write poems inspired by them. Sounds pretty cool, right? You know what's even cooler? Our finished poems will be made into a chapbook, AND we'll sell the chapbook at EMU Theater's opening night performance of The Snow Queen on November 21, AND you'll get free tickets to the show, AND there will be a reception beforehand where you'll be able to read your poetry to your friends and family! PHEW!
Onna Solomon received her masters in creative writing from Boston University. Her poems have been published in various journals and in Ann Arbor's own Unsquared. She was also selected, along with W. B. Yeats, as a favorite poet of Aeryn Alven, Pixy Queen of Eleador. One of her favorite things to do is lead writing workshops for 826michigan.
Anna Vitale lives in Ann Arbor. She's a poet who has collaborated with other poets, musicians, and artists. She teaches at Eastern Michigan University and is a co-founder of the online audio journal textsound, which can be found at textsound.org. Her work can be found in The Pulchritudinous Review and Shifter.
