Gabrielle
was happy enjoying the
view outside,
lurking ghosts are all
around her but she
don’t mind.

Ocean
by Victoria, age 9

The ocean is nice
The sound soothes your soul
The sound of the sand hitting the water
With the rocks flowing through the ocean
The fish have their own city in da wata
Called Atlantis

A Still-Untitled Story
by Shah’liah, age 10

Once upon a time there was a girl named Naomie. She was nine years old. She loved to play with toy mermaids. Her favorite mermaid was Madison the princess mermaid.

One morning when Naomie awoke she found herself under the sea. She was in Atlantis. She was a mermaid. Servants kept coming and calling her princess.

Her name was now Madison. She had switched places with Madison and that must mean that Madison had become Naomie.

Madison awoke and she felt weird because she was human. Naomie’s mom came in and said, “Naomie do you want scrambled or over-easy eggs?”

Madison said, “My name is Madison so call me by that, okay?”

Then Naomie’s mom said, “Watch your tone with me.”

Madison said, “Only if you call me by my name.”

The mom said, “Your name is Naomie Marie Money.”

“No, my name is Madison Nicole Richness.”

Meanwhile, Naomie had just fallen off the throne and broke her arm. At the same time, Madison fell off the bed and broke her arm.

Since Naomie did not have a doctor under the sea, they had to go to a real doctor on shore.

They both rushed to the emergency room and ended up right next to each other. Madison said, “Is your name Naomie?”

“Duh,” said Naomie. “Are you Princess Madison?”

“Duh,” said Madison. “We need to switch souls.”

“So we need to die to do that,” said Naomie.

So they sacrificed themselves and when they woke up in the morning everything was back to normal.
