next season!

Can you imagine what it was like to live during the Spanish Civil War? How about further back, during the Renaissance in Italy? Or ancient Egypt? Or ancient anything?! Writing historical fiction takes research, guts, imagination, and all those old rules about fiction (like write what you) know apply here as well: you may not know exactly what it feels like be in the Colosseum during its construction, but you sure do know a thing or two about dedication and hard work. Writers working on stories (and poems and plays and novels) about the past draw from their own experiences and, with historical facts as their inspiration and guide, move forward fearlessly into new (old) worlds. Join us for this three session workshop and explore the art of research and writing–we’ll write about a specific time in history through several genres, and by the end of the workshop, we’ll have a fascinating literary window into the lives of our ancestors.
