next season!

826michigan proudly presents another exciting installment in the “How to Write Like I Do” workshop series for adults!

This workshop will explore the ways the choices a character makes affect the stakes of a story. After all, each choice a character makes in a story builds the structure, and how they react to the events and their environment is what creates the plot. We will explore the way characters and their choices don’t add to the plot and structure of a story; they *are* the plot and structure of a story. We will discuss ways to push your characters to difficult places and to raise the emotional and dramatic stakes of a story and explore the ways plot is not simply a sequence of events but a way of exploring human behavior.

Tickets (one for $25 or bring a friend, two for $40!) for Natalie’s workshop are available at brownpapertickets.com! All proceeds directly benefit the free writing and tutoring programs that 826michigan offers to students in southeastern Michigan. Join us!
