next season!

Seniors! August 1 is very special day for those of you using or about to use an-oh-so-helpful tool, the Common Application. The application season opens (and you can create your account on the Common App) on that day, and while it may seem like your time in high school is far from over, you can start applying to colleges now!

Wait! What!? Do you need some help thinking about your college choices and the application essays that they require? In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to begin brainstorming in a supportive and pressure-free environment. Think essay writing is dull and painful? No! Most application essay writing involves talking about yourself and sharing your experiences and stories, so we will also spend some time having conversations about our experiences to brainstorm essay responses. The goal: to understand how to use the Common Application and leave this workshop with a list of potential essay ideas and several outlines of those essays.

Different schools require different essays, from those on the Common Application to supplemental pieces, to particular topics at certain schools, or for scholarships. It will help a great deal if you have a list (even if it is a long one or is incomplete) of the written requirements and questions/topics of the colleges and programs you are contemplating.
