Volunteer Social Activities

We will be holding some virtual volunteer social activities during the 2020-2021 school year, and look forward to resuming in-person volunteer engagement events when it is safe to do so.

As we adjust to gathering virtually, please get in touch with ariel@826michigan.org if you have any ideas or suggestions for volunteer social activities! Our in-person social activities, listed below, are on-pause until further notice.

  • Fourth Friday Board Game Night is an opportunity for 826michigan volunteers to get together and let their hair down. Board Game Night happens—you guessed it—every fourth Friday, from 7-9pm. It is a great way to meet new amazing folks, build community, and have fun with board games (which we think are anything BUT boring). Bring a friend, a game, a snack, and/or a beverage! No need to RSVP. We look forward to seeing you here at our Liberty Street headquarters!
  • Volunteer Social Activity of the Month: In addition to Board Game Night, we also do one other social outing a season. In the past, we’ve gone ice-skating, had movie nights, and even gone on a tour of the Big House. Check your Volunteer Email for details!
  • The 826 Ambassadors is the events and outreach committee comprised of 826 volunteers who are excited to expand our reach in the community. Ambassadors meet once per month, brainstorm volunteer recruitment and retention strategies, organize community outreach opportunities, plan and help with fundraisers, and table at community events.
