The Eyrie

The Eyrie

As volunteers act as the lifeblood of 826michigan, working alongside students to help us reach more than 3,200 youth in the Southeastern Michigan region, a number of local businesses and community supporters step in as enthusiastic public agents, spreading the word about 826michigan’s work. This October, we celebrate The Eyrie, a Michigan artisan market located in Ypsilanti’s historic Depot Town. The store is a delightful place to find beautiful and locally-made hand-wrought gifts for a friend (or yourself).

Proprietor Janette Rook is a regular supporter of 826michigan’s programs and events (most recently sponsoring a team in our Paddlestar Galactica tournament), using her store to promote 826michigan happenings across our three service areas. Not only does The Eyrie proudly retail our student publications, (currently carrying A Lantern of Fireflies: An Illustrated Treasury of Tales of Adventure, Discovery, and Magic and Enjoy! Recipes for Building Community),  it also helps to spread the word about our other work through its own dedicated social media channels. As an added serendipitous bonus, the store’s location near Ypsilanti’s old Eastside connects passerby and Ypsilanti residents to news about 826michigan’s most exciting Ypsi-based events–including Mittenfest, which will make a triumphant return to Ypsilanti this December.

We deeply appreciate the many ways that The Eyrie partners with us to honor our students and their writing. Thank you, Supporter of the Month!
