You are cordially invited to join 826michigan and guest of honor author Christopher Paul Curtis, along with special guest author Dave Eggers, for a delicious evening in the beautiful Zingerman’s Greyline in downtown Ann Arbor.

STORYMAKERS DINNER is a celebration that honors important writers and their stories, from nationally known novelists to emerging young authors in our community. Each spring, 826michigan partners with Zingerman’s Community of Businesses to bring together a noted person of letters and more than one hundred friends committed to 826michigan’s and our students’ success. We promise to provide outstanding food and drink alongside extraordinary stories.

This May 24, Newbery Award-winning author and student favorite Christopher Paul Curtis will share his moving and hilarious stories with us. In 1996 his debut novel, The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963 received a Newbery Honor, followed by Bud, Not Buddy, which received the Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award.

Later works include Bucking the Sarge, The Mighty Miss Malone, Elijah of Buxton (awarded, among other honors, the Scott O’Dell Award for Historical Fiction), and his most recent book, The Madman of Piney Woods.

We’re also thrilled that acclaimed author, artist, and 826 founder Dave Eggers will be back in Michigan to join us for this special evening. Dave Eggers is the author of many books, including The Lifters, The Monk of Mokha, The Circle, and Her Right Foot.

Tickets are available at two levels: $125 (dinner) and $250 (VIP reception and dinner). VIP tickets include a pre-event reception with Christopher Paul Curtis and Dave Eggers, along with 826michigan’s new executive director Naimah Wade.
