Big House Big Heart 5K Wrap Up

September 30, 2008 | 826 Blog Post

I think I said last year that, in my opinion, the only reason to run is if you’re being chased, and then it’s better to have a car. Something happened last year that changed my mind on that, though, and then it happened again this year, reminding me yet again that there are benefits to running. Health benefits, sure, but also: case in point, the Big House Big Heart 5K. This annual run lets participants choose a charity, and then have their friends and family members donate to that charity in support of their run. We had several volunteers run in support of us last year, and again this year.

In addition to being the 826michigan team captain and organizer,
Krysta Stone has run for us for the last two years.

One of the coolest parts of the race? It ends on the fifty-yard line. So in addition to getting to run around Ann Arbor on a sunny Sunday morning, you also get to run into the stadium and cross the finish line right in the middle of the field. AND they show your picture on the Jumbotron (which sounds like some super-cool robot to us)!

Many thanks to our runners: Angela DeSmet, Stella Gorlin, Jacqui Robbins, and Krysta Stone. You guys are the best!
