Here We Go A-Wafeling: November’s Supporter of the Month is The Wafel Shop!

This reporter distinctly remembers one fine day in the 826michigan basement, when our Executive Director Amanda Uhle came running downstairs and shouted, “GREAT NEWS! THERE’S A WAFEL SHOP OPENING NEXT DOOR!”

At the time, we knew this new development would be a delicious boon for our carb cravings, and so it has turned out to be; what we didn’t know is how much of a boon it would be in other ways.

Proprietor Noah Goldsmith and his crew at The Wafel Shop are whizzes with the whipped cream, barbecue chicken, and Nutella that define their tasty wafel creations, that much is certain. But what’s more, The Wafel Shop is a kind and generous neighbor to 826michigan who have supported us in a variety of ways. From turning their grand opening celebration into The Night of 826 Wafels and donating 100% of proceeds to us (and what a scrumptious evening that was!), to sending over samples of new products to satisfy our robots’ incessant wafel demands (they’re so demanding!), to instituting 826mondays*, The Wafel Shop has been a friend to 826michigan since Day One.

We love being located in downtown Ann Arbor for so many reasons: We’re right across from the Blake Transit Center, which makes it easy for students and volunteers to reach us. Occasionally, we run into the Violin Monster. And we have amazing neighbors like The Wafel Shop who brighten our days, support our programs, and make Ann Arbor a great place to be.

Thank you, Noah Goldsmith and the Wafel-tiers! The Liberty Street Robot Supply & Repair and 826michigan salute you. Long may our block of Liberty Street thrive!

*826mondays: A new initiative wherein The Wafel Shops donates of 8.26% of ALL PROCEEDS, every Monday, to 826michigan’s free programs for youth aged 6-18 in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. What better way to start the week?
