It Feels as Though We've Been Waiting Our Whole Lives, and I Guess Some of Us Have Been. Approximately.

As many of you know, Dave Eggers started 826 Valencia, which became 826 National, of which we are a part. Many of you also know that he’s written a lot of really-very-good books (What is the What, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius), edits a really-very-good journal (McSweeney’s), and just is really-very nice. He’s a teacher; he’s a philanthropist; it is out of some sort of obsession with him that many of our volunteers come to us.

So this is a reminder, of sorts. Dave is coming into town in about a week and a half, and we have a lot of wonderful events planned, and we don’t want to hear any whining, later, after he’s gone, about how you didn’t know about it. Because sometimes that happens, like, for example, with the workshop schedule. And I get all these weepy emails about how people didn’t know in time. So now you know, again. Also, we’re reminding you because we want to see you, and talk to you, and share these amazing evenings and an afternoon with you. Please look above this blog entry at our upcoming events, and we hope to see you soon!
