Anne Heintz
When we think about what it would be like if the world was perfect, we can’t help but think that all (or at least most) people would be exactly like Anne Heintz. First of all, she’s nice to everyone. She listens. She is respectful and intelligent. She’s very creative, and she has a knack for inspiring people, young and old.
A few months ago, Anne started tutoring on Tuesdays. She started working with two little girls who decided to write a radio play. She now has a team of students who come in on Tuesdays, specifically, to work with Anne, specifically. Last week, at the V2 release, a mother came up to me and said she wanted to bring her daughter in on Tuesdays because she had heard from her daughter’s friends and their parents about Anne. The word is getting out about Anne Heintz.
Not to mention the workshops. Last winter, she taught a playwriting workshop. This spring, she is teaching a playwriting for the radio workshop. This summer, she’s teaching a workshop in which participants must write a story in the time it takes a popsicle to melt. And she’s great at it, and makes it look effortless to, you know, inspire and engage a whole roomful of students.

Anne Heintz has learned a lot of good stuff about playwriting over the years. She attended the World Interplay Playwrights Festival where she was one of five U.S. representatives. She’s written a short play which was produced in New York City, and she has directed many plays in Tucson, AZ and one for the Melbourne Fringe Festival in Melbourne, Australia. She likes to write nonfiction and fiction as well, and she really digs anything Shakespearean, Australian, or chocolate.

Her enthusiasm, generosity, and gregariousness are infectious. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Anne, for reminding us what is good in the world.
