Stepping Into a Moment in Time

To Know Me Is To Know

The Ordinary is Extraordinary

Led by educators from 826michigan, a youth writing organization, fifth graders from University Prep Mark Murray spent a semester writing and recording original stories about their connection to the incredible city of Detroit. Inspired by famous works of historical fiction, students interviewed family members, friends, and one another to create stories that respond to three themes about what it’s like to live in Detroit today.

The incredible stories these students tell are currently on exhibit at the gorgeous Detroit Historical Museum. The installation will be up until March 14.

Meet 826michigan staffers in the exhibition during our “open office hours.” Learn about the project, get your questions answered, and get a personal tour!
