A Trio of Ann Arbor Rotarians
826michigan is pleased to honor the Ann Arbor Rotary Club as our Supporter of the Month!
There are many reasons to recognize such a fantastic group and all of their contributions to the Greater Washtenaw community, but we are especially grateful for the investment of the club and its members in our work and our students. Just this year, the Ann Arbor Rotary Club has supported our publications program with TWO grants–one to support our Young Authors Book Project and the other to benefit the annual OMNIBUS. In the picture above, you’ll find three of many Rotary Club members who made several visits to our writing lab to help assemble a variety of our in-house chapbooks.
In those visits to assemble books (which took place in December, March, and May), our grand group of Rotarians, as we lovingly call them, directly benefited six field trip classes and four in-school groups. Working with super efficiency, Rotary Club members moved from publications support to building store products, to helping prep for field trips in no time. And, the Rotarians are more than just a hard-working bunch, they’re also incredibly joyful people to have around our students–spreading goodness, lots of friendly smiles, and taking care of business along the way.
826michigan Executive Director Amanda Uhle writes, “Their financial support has been an immense help this year. 826michigan received both an Ann Arbor Rotary local grant and their district grant. Both of these provided support for our publications program and its diverse output: the OMNIBUS, the Young Authors Book Project, individual books created by students in our field trip program, and innumerable chapbooks. We are especially proud to partner with people and organizations whose hands-on approach provides support multiple ways. What a treasure to know the Ann Arbor Rotary and their combined volunteer and financial support!”
