Chase Wade

“Where’s Chase?”

“Can I work with Chase?”

These were questions that were heard frequently during our summer program, Words On Our Street. Chase Wade, one of our youngest volunteers, quickly became popular among the students there. With much calmness and patience, Chase persistently worked with the students, keeping them focused on their work even with the playground so close to the classroom. He both supported students in the classroom and bonded with the students outside of the classroom, almost always pushing students on the tire swing when they called out for him.

When working with the students, Chase was not only patient, but continually thoughtful and reflective in his experiences on his own education, now having a brief teaching experience, and what makes a good teacher. Not only did he support 826michigan in our programs, but he even utilized his photography skills by being the student photographer for one of our biggest fundraising events of the year, Eat Your Words. We are so thankful for Chase and his continued support, passion, and his willing spirit.
