Word Portraiture
Led by Catherine Calabro & Amy Sumerton
Ages: 6-9, 15 students
Thursday, October 6, 6-7:30pm (one session)

Calling all word artists! The 826michigan programs department is on a mission to curate the most beautiful portrait exhibit this side of the Huron, and we need your help to create the art. Since this is an 826 writing workshop, we’ll be creating word portraits. That is, we’ll work together to select the perfect words, similes, and metaphors to describe the models before us. Artists should bring one photo of their choice to this workshop to help them fine-tune their portraiture skills.

Catherine Calabro and Amy Sumerton are currently working full time as models. Lately, Amy’s word of choice has been “compelling,” while Catherine’s go-to phrases usually include “fascinating,” “wonky,” and “Let’s go to Washtenaw Dairy.”
